Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
