Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the event," they added.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.
A high-ranking official said the attack rendered him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
